About the series:
Blue Girl:
Blue arrives to Earth by mythical means, and enjoys her life to the fullest, though she may appear different on the outside. Upon being teased by her peers, Blue shares a lesson of acceptance and compassion towards oneself and others. This results in a celebration and expression of what each child is feeling, and the realization that every day stirs up new emotions within us. Through the good and bad, we have the strength to navigate our inner worlds, and Blue is here to remind us of that.
Blue Girl and the Unseen Thing:
Blue contemplates her existence under her favorite tree, and is taken on an enlightening journey guided by the Unseen Thing. Suddenly Blue awakens from a dream, only to realize the Unseen Thing's presence lingers on... as if it is everywhere at once. Blue continues to explore her connection with something beyond herself, and witnesses the Unseen Thing in the duality of life's moments. As a result of her newfound awareness, Blue develops a sense of hope and belonging.
Blue Girl and the Broken Heart
Blue feels love and companionship through her connection with her dog, True. Upon experiencing the loss of True, Blue is faced with heartbreak, emptiness, and the subsequent strength that follows. Blue is able to heal as time passes, and her memories with True live on through the love that still exists within her.
About the Author/Illustrator:
Caroline Lockhart is the author and illustrator of Blue Girl. She is a self taught creative, with a primary focus on poetry and visual arts. (And extensive hours of arts and crafts!) She has mostly resided in the Southwestern deserts of the United States - and credits the landscape for any wisdom she’s accrued in this life.
Caroline has spent much of the last 10 years as a caretaker for children and found them to be a profound source of inspiration in her art. Creating freely without judgement proved to be immensely healing for her own inner child, and she began to hope for the same for others. As a means of giving back to this budding generation, as well as parents, caretakers, teachers and storytellers alike,
Blue Girl was born.
